Personal Training has become more common place over the last few years. This is predominantly due to the media and celebrities.
You do not have to be a celebrity to have a Personal Trainer or have loads of money. A good way of thinking about Personal Training is that it is an investment in your health and fitness. And like any investment you can reap the rewards in both the short and long term.
Deciding to have a Personal Trainer should not be a quick decision. Personal Training is not a quick fix and will not provide a miracle cure. Personal Training is a two way commitment between client and trainer.
Personal Training should be used as a kick start to a fitness regime or a way of preparing for a big event or as a motivational tool.
Your Personal Training session may include a combination of:
One-to-One Pilates enables people to participate in Pilates when a local class is not available or is not at a suitable time.It is very much like Personal Training, as in, you have my complete focus. One-to-One Pilates sessions are usually held in the clients home.
The benefits of having One-to-One Pilates are:
Pilates is mat based exercise which focuses on core strength, whilst working every muscle group in the body.
The original Pilates exercises were devised by Joseph Pilates who was born in 1880 in Germany. Joseph referred to the exercises as "Contrology". We now refer to the exercises as the "Pilates method".
Pilates initially can seem complex due to the body positioning and breathing. Like any other task our bodies soon learn skills and adapt.
For both One-to-One Pilates and Pilates Classes, I work on a 6 week programme. This gives the participant time to learn the Pilates exercises and progress. So a Pilates exercise which seems difficult on week 1 will be much easier by week 6.
Pilates is an exercise regime which can be adopted by anyone at any age.
Pilates is a series of slow controlled movements which flow together. Pilates is about quality rather than quantity so does not involve a large number of repetitions.
Pilates breathing is thoracic breathing, which means breathing through the rib cage, enabling the participant to sustain the engagement of the abdominal muscles.
Pilates can be achievable even if you have a disability.
I currently teach three people partially sighted/blind people.
Pilates is well suited for the blind. Once down on the mat, you do not have to get up again until the end. You do not have to be spatially aware. You do not have to see the Pilates instructor, as the whole class can be verbally instructed into position.
Pilates has a wide range of benefits, but is most well known for strengthening the core, leading to improved posture.
Pilates can provide the following benefits:
